Hello! Welcome to QuiltFriends! We are now
9 years old, and are so happy to be part of the cyber world.
We run our chats with each other through YahooGroups.
Check us out and join in on the fun! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QuiltFriendz/
QuiltFriends is more than a quilt talk list. Most members have become
close friends and we have a very family oriented feeling to our
group. So there is a lot of chatter that isn't always quilt related. We have plenty
of off-topic subjects. We have many levels of quilters. If anyone has a quilting problem
or a topic that needs to be discussed there are usually many members able to offer the
needed help. See our Quilt school
page! If your question is not answered there, please email Penny
When we were about 6 months old we organized our first get together. We
traveled to Columbus, Ohio. It was a blast meeting our cyber friends for the first time.
We have posted many pictures from our first retreat. The 12 members who attended signed up into two groups
and participated in a Round Robin and Row by Row quilt. We presented the quilts to the
owners at the retreat. Stop in and see the pictures. In 2000 we had our retreat
in Tennessee and had 29 members come to party with us. We
had our 3rd Annual QuiltFriends retreat in June 2001. This retreat
was in Lancaster PA. Please go visit our Retreat
Photos to see how much fun our retreats are.
Summer of 2002 our retreat was in St.
Louis Missouri, June 27-30th. Please visit our retreat
picture page to see some old and new faces. During our
retreats we do some major damage at the Local Quilt Shops and have an
all day sew-a-thon. A few of our members plan a project for us so
that we are able to learn a new technique and have problems solved and
questions answered for us. June of 2003 took us to Dallas
Texas! Check out
the pics! What a blast! We just got home from our
2004 retreat in Amish Country, Charm Ohio.
Check out the pictures of our fun time!
We went to Fairfax Virginia for our 7th ANNUAL retreat
in 2005! Pictures are up, check out the link on the left.
Our 2006 retreat was in Missouri. Pictures
coming soon!
We at the QuiltFriends list operate various swaps, including
Fat Quarters
and block swaps. We take pride in our swap turn outs and have some very strict guidelines
we expect our members to follow. The guidelines can be found on the swap etiquette
page.
Please be sure to read them before you sign up for any swap. We also request that swaps be
maintained within the QuiltFriends list membership as we know most of our members well
enough that we can almost guarantee a satisfactory swap. Occasionally
members come up with some great swap ideas, and we all join in!
We try to play On-line BINGO on a monthly basis.
Each month there is a different hostess and a different theme.
It's always a good time!
We also take advantage of the different holidays to
make other QuiltFriends feel special. We have a Secret QuiltFriend
hostess who organizes different box swaps where we
get to spoil other members with holiday related gift boxes.
QuiltFriends welcomes members from ANYWHERE in the
world. We do seem to be mostly USA oriented, but have many
Canadian members and Germany is represented too!
If you are a PIN collector, please check out our LAPEL
PIN PAGE. We ordered our QuiltFriends logo in pin form. This
was done by The Pin Peddlers.
Please visit their site too and see what other pins they design and
sell.
On occasion we add mystery quilts or a small quilt project. These are
available to anyone. There is no need to sign up for our mail list to find the
instructions for these projects.
Please enjoy your visit here and don't forget to sign our guest book.
Send an email to Penny
if you would like to join our wonderful quilting community. In
order to protect our list members from as much SPAM as we can, PLEASE give
me a short "blurb" about your current quilt project in your email.
