Linda's Brown Bag Swap

2008

In a brown bag swap, everyone participating will make and receive a project at least 36" x 36".  It may be square, rectangle, round, oval...any shape as long as each side is at least 36".  You may make your project larger if you choose.  Projects must be pieced, quilted, bound and labeled.  In the past, some have been known to send out more than one project.  If you do this...remember that you will receive the same number of projects that you sent out.  You must complete these by the deadline no matter how many you commit to.

The general guidelines are as follows:  Participants must send the following (3 things) to the hostess (Linda Campbell) 1) a minimum of 6 fat quarters of fabrics of your choosing.  You may send more than six and you may send more than a fat quarter of any or all of the fabrics.  2) You must also include in your package a self-addressed postage paid envelope to have fabric returned to you.  (You may want to have a little extra postage added to your return envelope to cover additional cost in case you receive more fabric than you sent.)  3) You will also need to include in your package an index card with a small swatch of each of your fabrics taped to it along with your name, address, phone number and email address.

Once all the packages are received, I will swap out everyone's packages.  You will receive the fabric from someone else from which you will need to make a project.  You will not know who the fabric belongs to and you will not know who has your fabric.  This is a fun way to try new techniques, to make something you may never have made before and to work with fabrics that may typically be out of your comfort zone.

All packages must be received by me (the hostess) no later than Saturday, February 16.  They will be swapped and distributed on Monday, February 18.  You will have 3 full months to work on these projects.  On Tuesday, June 2 you will be sent a private email telling you whose fabrics you had along with their address.  You will then mail the completed project to the recipient no later than Saturday, June 6.

I look forward to doing this.  I have received some amazing pieces having done this in the past.

Send a private or group email when you have sent your fabric so that I can keep an eye out for it.
